CHARTS Male & Female Life Expectancy Train...
The attached powerpoint slides contain a summary of Life Expectancy data by gender for Birmingham LA for our latest period ‘2018 to 2020’. Life expectancy is a useful summary measure of all-cause mortality as it quantifies the differences between areas in units (years of life). All cause mortality is a fundamental and probably the oldest measure of the health status of a population. It represents the cumulative effect of the prevalence of risk factors, prevalence and severity of disease, and the effectiveness of interventions and treatment. Differences in levels of all-cause mortality reflect health inequalities between different population groups, e.g. between genders, social classes and ethnic groups. The slides display the variations in Life Expectancy in the city by comparing the stops of train stations on route to the city centre. The Life Expectancy data is also Illustrated through maps of the 69 wards in the city by males, females and persons and benchmarking there values against the Birmingham average and for England.
